Changelog

What changed, and when.

Every release that changes a screen in the app or how a popup or widget behaves on your store. Updates reach every store automatically; there is nothing to install.
  1. October 27, 2026

    Latest

Honest placement, and a 404 that points the way

    • The tutorial says popups use the embed and widgets use the Castor Widgets block, and it has a card for a missing or empty widget.
    • Design Studio says save is not live. A popup still needs to be turned on; a widget still needs the block.
    • A mistyped URL lists the public pages a shop owner actually uses.
  2. October 26, 2026

Listed on the Shopify App Store

    • Castor is approved and listed on the Shopify App Store. Install from Apps; billing stays on the Shopify invoice.
    • The public review page now reads as an approval record: billing on reinstall, the theme widget, and app home.
    • Product widgets show active catalog products even when Shopify reports zero or unknown stock.
  3. October 25, 2026

Free is three popups and three widgets

    • Free is 3 popups and 3 widgets on a live store. Contacts and views stay unlimited. A/B starts on Startup. Grow is 3,000 coins and same-day help.
    • The public site is white, black, and hairline gray. Product shots stay; the cream-and-teal look is gone.
    • Pricing is its own page. Install and sign-in send you to Shopify Admin.
    • A mistyped URL stays on Castor, with Install and the same nav.
  4. October 24, 2026

The site shows the designs, not empty frames

    • try.castorapp.com shows real product shots from the gallery.
    • Plan copy matches the app: Free is 3 popups and 3 widgets, A/B on Startup, Grow is coins and same-day help.
    • Install and sign-in send you to Shopify. Staff tools stay off the public pages.

Create with AI, case studies, and a cleaner support panel

    • Create with AI starts by asking what the popup or widget should do, then shows only the designs that fit and picks one for you. The review step says in plain words when and where it will show.
    • Support in the bottom right shows the Castor mark. Instant Support knows every setup step and opens the right screen; Custom Support is a full form with up to three screenshots.
    • Setup: the whole popup card is the toggle, not just the small square.
    • Plan is in the app menu. The app opens on Overview after install.
    • Site: the Stores menu is now Case studies, with a playbook for fashion, beauty, home, food and drink, and tech stores.
  6. October 7, 2026

    Full-screen setup

    • The setup guide is a full-screen walkthrough with the steps on the side: Products, Popups, Turn popups on, Add a widget. It stays open until the four steps are done and can be reopened from Overview.
    • The product pull keeps going until products are in, then popups and widgets are built from your own catalog and shown on the setup screen.
    • Product widgets read Shopify's real review counts, and hide the star row on a product with no reviews.
    • Sliders and galleries respond to arrows, dots, and autoplay on the store.
    • A Search element that looks up the catalog as a shopper types.
    • The product catalog survives a restart, so a deploy no longer hides product widgets.

Add to cart from a widget, and one Logic step

    • Add to cart on a widget adds the product to the theme's cart and opens the cart drawer.
    • Product grids, galleries, and picture edits in Design Studio. A draft or archived product's own photo can be placed in a picture.
    • When, where, who, and how often live on one Logic step beside Design.
    • Segments: rules join with And or Or, and you pick pages from a list instead of typing paths.
    • A/B: one version shows on the theme and store at a time; Add to theme and Delete sit on each popup and widget row.
  8. October 5, 2026

    Segments, A/B results, phone layouts

    • Save a shopper segment on Contacts and show a popup or widget only to that group.
    • A and B results side by side, with click and conversion rates per version. Each shopper is credited to the version they actually saw.
    • Widgets and popups reflow into a phone layout so type, forms, and product rows stay usable on narrow screens.
    • A quieter Overview: sales, top earners, and store figures in one layout.
  9. October 3 to 4, 2026

One page frame, ready widgets, a page for each feature

    • Overview, Popups, Widgets, Library, Products, and Contacts share one frame, with a Ready to go banner and a table for the ones you create.
    • Ready widgets for each product list, filled from that list and aimed at the right page.
    • Library Use is one window: the design beside the choices.
    • Storefront popups load from Castor's server when the theme proxy does not start them.
    • Shopify tokens that fall behind on permissions repair themselves.
    • Site: a page for each feature.
  10. October 1 to 2, 2026

    Built for Shopify groundwork

    • Admin navigation through Shopify's own menu, a Polaris shell, the contextual save bar, and theme status in the app.
    • The widget theme block renders at once and fits the section it sits in. Saved widgets appear in the theme editor picker and the editor shows the real design.
    • Product widgets are filled from real store data with smart lists, never sample products, and never recommend a product that is not live.
    • The storefront script loads through the Shopify app proxy so a theme's content policy cannot block popups.
    • Castor web pixel for counting views, carts, and orders on the store.
    • Square corners across Popups, Widgets, Library, Products, and Contacts.
  11. September 29 to 30, 2026

    Store-type designs, legal pages, support

    • Designs photographed for fashion, beauty, home, food and drink, and tech stores, plus a monochrome kit.
    • Popup translations for stores that sell in more than one language.
    • Support split into Instant Support and Custom Support tickets.
    • Fast bulk product pull with live progress. The Plan page shows a full feature table.
    • Privacy: Shopify customer data requests are shown to the merchant on Contacts; shop deletion requests delete that store's data.
    • New public site and legal pages.
  12. September 27 to 28, 2026

    Gallery

    • Twenty editable heroes, bars, banner ads, social posts, and popups in the Gallery, each with its own layout, photo, and copy.
    • Save for everyone: a saved Gallery template updates the preview for every shop.
    • Merchants stay signed in from Shopify Admin without an admin key.
  13. September 17, 2026

    First build

    • Popups, widgets, Design Studio, the product desk, and contacts, inside Shopify Admin.
